Summer Alexis became a Savvy Nation favorite because of her exotic looks, wit, sweetness and intelligence, winning the “Is She Hot?” contest. Despite many challenges in her life, she’s always managed to rise above and keep a sunny perspective befitting her name.

“I migrated to the US at a very young age,” she said. “Although everyone thinks I’m either Thai or Hawaiian, my nationality is Filipina/Portuguese/Spanish/Chinese. I come from a broken family and moved around a lot. I became very independent, absorbed knowledge like a sponge and just rose above the adversities in life.”

When Summer came in second place in the ISH contest several months in a row, rather than giving up, she kept at it.

“That just brought out my competitive drive, and I was determined to win,” she said.

She now joins the other ISH winners from her year to compete for one semifinalist spot to go to Sydney in January 2009 and compete for Savvy's Million Dollar Search for the world's most beautiful woman.

For this very special girl, Savvy paired her with Barry Smith of Studio 8 in San Diego to shoot at the beautiful Britt Scripps Inn. We sat her down to talk at long last about her victory and more…

Savvy:
This interview may be redundant because Savvy readers already know so much about you from your blogs.

Summer: (Laughs) You’re right. They do know a lot about me. I guess I’m an open book. If you want to know something, all you have to do is ask.

Savvy: Is there anything about you they would be surprised to learn?

Summer: Many people don’t know about the traumatic, unfortunate incidents I’ve been through in the past few months.

Savvy: Right. You were violently assaulted by a so-called man who was hiding in a women’s restroom.

Summer: Yeah, you never expect it to happen to you. You also don’t realize your potential strength until you’re put in these situations. I fought back so I’m just thankful it didn’t lead to something worse. The guy is in jail right now, but it’s been hard for me to find closure. I also went through a break-up at the time, plus I had to deal with property issues. And after returning to work from being on disability for 4 months, I got into a car accident 4 days later.

Savvy:
Man, rough year! I think some people were wondering if we were ever going to run this pictorial, but a lot has happened since you won ISH in February. We hope things are getting better for you.

Summer: Yes, I’d like to think that they are… but there’s always something with me! When it rains, it pours! (Laughs)

Savvy: Something else that people may not realize is that you’re a senior analyst for a branch of the University of California system… And a mother of 3!

Summer: Yes, believe it or not.

Savvy:
How do you stay so hot?

Summer:
Lucky genes and high metabolism!

Savvy: You look very tall in your pictures, but as we often find out when we finally meet models, you’re a petite little thing.

Summer: I’m 5’5” tall.

Savvy: So what’s your plan for world domination?

Summer: I plan to become a household name so I can launch my own products. I also recently finished a short film. I’m the “queen of ideas” so I’m sure I’ll muster up something! (Laughs)

Savvy:
Ooh, a movie?!

Summer: No, I am not naked in it! (Laughs) My character is part of a vicious love triangle.

Savvy: Would you ever strip for a movie if it was a breakthrough part? Or for a big magazine like Playboy?

Summer: I was already contacted by someone at Playboy, but I’m also looking to do commercial/print modeling. I want to give that a try and see if it works out. If it doesn’t, I can always go the other route. If I were to ever do nude, I would have to go straight for Playboy.

Savvy: What do you say to your fans in Savvy-land?

Summer:
I want to thank all my fans and friends who stuck it out with me for ISH. I could not have done it without your help! You truly all are an inspiration to me!

Savvy:
Any advice for the girls who are still in it?

Summer: Don’t give up if you really want to win it. Also, it is important to interact with your fans because they are the ones who support you.

Savvy: Tell us about your Savvy photo shoot.

Summer:
It was a beautiful location, a dainty, Renaissance-inspired inn. I worked with such a great crew. We had a lot of laughs and it made our all-day shoot seem like a breeze.

Savvy: Is there a modeling job you’re glad you didn’t take or get?

Summer: When I first started modeling, I received an e-mail for a casting. It read something like, “Get paid $200 to be tickled on camera”. My first instinct was to be weary so I didn’t respond. Months later, I read something about the photographer luring models to this shoot, tying them up, assaulting them and having the audacity to take pictures of them. He kept coming back on the modeling forum under different aliases. I’m just glad I went with my gut feeling.

Savvy: What a jackass! What advice would you give men about women so none of us have to trick women into getting naked?

Summer: Have confidence, but NOT cockiness. Just be yourself. Smile, say “hi,” and most likely we will return the friendly gesture. As for romance, men can be more spontaneous and do things for us without being told to.

Savvy: Such as?

Summer: Most women are hopeless romantics, and it is the little things that mean a lot to them… One hand-picked exotic flower… flowers can be sent to her workplace on no particular occasion, just because… sweet messages out of the blue… sing to her, no matter how bad you sing! (Laughs) Be a gentleman and open doors for her. Plan romantic dates once in a while. Make her laugh.

Savvy: Okay.

Summer: As far as the love life goes… hmmm. Don’t be afraid to explore her body -- it is a wonderland. Use your tongue, your lips, even your teeth more. Not just your hands. Ask her what turns her on or pay close attention to her breathing and moans to give you clues. Be creative and suggest new moves or new places. Use props like food and toys in and out of the bedroom.

Savvy:
Sounds fun. Did you say food? You mean, like, Spaghettios?

Summer: (Laughs) More like whipped cream, nutella, peanut butter, fruit roll ups…

Savvy: Stop it! You’re making me hungry. What kind of guy gets to explore your wonderland?

Summer:
I’d be lying if I said that looks weren’t important. I normally go for the tall, dark and handsome type with the pretty eyes, dimples, a toned physique, a stylish wardrobe… And there’s just something about a guy who smells nice that turns me on!

Savvy: Oh, hun, don’t feel like you have to describe me down to the last detail! (Laughs)

Summer:
(Laughs) The exterior is not as important to me as the interior because the exterior can always be altered. The cute level declines rapidly if the guy’s personality doesn’t top the cake. I’m attracted to confident, secure, intelligent, funny, mature, caring, thoughtful, family-oriented, honest, outgoing, fun-loving, ambitious guys. He also needs to be able to keep up with me. I’ve always had a very high sex drive.

Savvy: What’s one thing you wish you could change about men?

Summer: Can I only change one thing? (Laughs)

Savvy: Ah man! (Grins and laughs) Bust our balls, how bout it?!

Summer: When women are stressed or peeved about a problem, we don’t need a Mr. Fix It. We just want to be able to vent it out and for our men to allow us to do that and just listen. Women deal with stress differently than men, and it helps us to just talk about it. Most men consider it a sign of weakness to ask for help.

Savvy: Describe the perfect date for Summer Alexis…

Summer: I love to get all dolled up and enjoy a candlelit dinner at a fancy restaurant, but from my experience, it’s not necessarily what you do or where you go that matters, it’s who you share your time with.

Savvy: San Francisco is a great town. Do you have any favorite places to hang out?

Summer: It’s a beautiful city. Very cultured. Fine cuisine. But honestly, I don’t get out to the city that much. I have yet to ride the cable car! (Laughs) But as a tourist, you definitely have to check out Pier 39, AT&T Park, Golden Gate Park, Forbes Island, Alcatraz, Lombard Street, and Sausalito.

Savvy: Well, we hope to see lots more of you in the future, Summer.

Summer:
Thanks. I’ve made a lot of friends on Savvy, and I’ll try my best to remain a loyal “Savette.”
